Denise M. Thomas
Denise has over twenty-five years of state and federal litigation experience, which has given her a breadth of knowledge in multiple areas of law involving civil and criminal litigation, contract formation and disputes, insurance coverage issues, property and construction law matters, tax issues and appeals. This broad experience gives her a unique perspective in her current law practice, which focuses on helping families navigate some of the most important and challenging legal issues in their lives. The backbone of her work consists of helping clients plan for marriage, adoption, divorce, child custody and support, and wills and trusts. Denise strives to help her clients with respect and understanding while offering competent and intelligent counsel, strong advocacy, and a rational approach to achieving successful long-term outcomes for couples, parents and their children.
Denise has advanced training and experience working as a settlement facilitator. She regularly serves as a neutral mediator, helping couples resolve their issues without the stress and expense of court. She seeks collaborative solutions for couples to attain greater privacy for individuals and long-term benefits for parents and children. However, not every divorce can be resolved outside of court. With Denise’s extensive litigation experience, she is able to represent her clients in divorce proceedings with professionalism, knowledge and skill in order to achieve the best result for her clients. Recognizing that each couple is unique, Denise helps her clients determine which method of pursuing a divorce and addressing child custody is best for them.
Outside of the office, Denise is actively involved in her sons’ school and extracurricular activities. She is also dedicated to helping Santa Fe Public Schools and children in the community. Denise served as a director for the non-profit organizations, Partners in Education and Girls, Inc., and as the President of the Wood Gormley Elementary School Parent Teacher Committee. She continues to be a regular volunteer in her children’s schools, helping with fundraising and events.
